State Wide Vegetation Mapping

ELA was contracted to develop a rapid, seamless vegetation dataset across 5 bioregions that make up the majority of eastern NSW using currently available data

The project developed:

  • A prioritisation process to assess over 200 overlapping vegetation datasets.
  • Spatial data combining prioritised vegetation datasets into a seamless best available vegetation coverage using GIS analysis.
  • A consistent vegetation classification across the state based on the Keith vegetation classes.

    • The final vegetation dataset was used to develop bushfire hazard mapping for the eastern part of New South Wales.
