Trial of DECCW Draft Biodiversity Certification Methodology
Eco Logical Australia was engaged by DECCW to test the draft Biodiversity Certification methodology to be implemented under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995.
ELA completed the following tasks: • Field validation of desktop condition assessment guidelines; • Assessed the impact of changing the definition of low condition within the methodology; • Refined the threatened species database used by the methodology using expert opinion; • Examined the outcomes of broad landscape based assessment techniques required by the methodology.
ELA made several recommendations to DECCW aimed at improving the application of Biodiversity Certification methodology in NSW.
