BioBanking Assessor Accreditation Training
Environmental Assessment
An accredited course issued under licence from the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water (DECCW). To be eligible for accreditation as an “Accredited BioBanking Assessor” under section 142B of the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995 and submit formal applications for BioBanking Statements or Biobanking Agreements, environmental consultants must successfully complete this course.
The Course is presented by Robert Humphries, Darren James, Dr. Steve Ward and Jennie Powell who have extensive experience in the BioBanking Scheme, having trialled the methodology for DECCW, assisted in the development of many of the software tools and data sets. They have also prepared and had approved the first applications for BioBanking Agreements and BioBanking Statements in NSW.
The BioBanking Assessors Accreditation Training Course provides an overview of the NSW BioBanking Scheme, including the ‘Improve or Maintain test’, and an understanding of biodiversity credits. In particular, it will impart a detailed knowledge of the BioBanking Assessment Methodology including definitions of low condition and red flag areas, site and condition assessment (including vegetation types and species survey requirements), and the application of the BioBanking Credit Calculator. The course will include theory and practical exercises, and assessment tasks for those seeking accreditation.
