NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change
GIS Data Manipulation
Eco Logical Australia was engaged by NSW Department of Environment and Climate Change (DECC) to review and edit the Mitchell Landscapes data layer.
The Mitchell Landscapes data layer is used for a variety of purposes by DECC, including the determination of overcleared landscapes and the calculation of Biobanking credits. It is therefore extremely important that the data layer is spatially accurate.
Spatial inaccuracies appeared within the data layer after DECC obtained several fine resolution data layers, such as SPOT imagery, contour and drainage mapping.
Eco Logical Australia was commissioned by DECC to thoroughly review the Mitchell Landscapes data layer to identify errors and inconsistencies across the State. We edited the errors within the data layer, using ArcGIS 9.2 topological editing, to improve the spatial accuracy of the data.
