Senior Staff
Andrew is a founding Director of Eco Logical Australia Pty
Ltd. He has over 15 years experience in providing quality consulting
services for the public and private sectors, both in Australia
and overseas.
Andrew has a unique blend of expertise in natural resource
management and strategic conservation planning with experience
in developing biodiversity strategies, plans of management and
a range of policy and procedural documents. Andrew has also
conducted assessments and surveys for a wide variety of proposals
including development and planning studies, identifying site
opportunities and constraints, wilderness assessments, management
plans and proposed additions to conservation reserves.
Andrews project management and personal communication
skills are two of his strengths as is his ability to help clients
assess their needs and tailor project development and implementation
to meet specific requirements.
Steven is a founding Director of Eco Logical Australia. Steven
has extensive experience in the operation of Geographic Information
Systems (GIS) and the management of spatial databases. He has
had high level involvement with many major regional and State-wide
projects including the Comprehensive Regional Assessments, Georges
River Biodiversity Study, the Lower Hunter and Central Coast
Regional Biodiversity Strategy and the National Vegetation Information
System (NVIS).
Steven has specialist skills in the analysis of data and the
preparation of vegetation community maps, statistical flora
and fauna habitat models and the use of C-plan. This combined
with sound field survey skills, extensive experience with State
and local government and an in-depth knowledge of environmental
legislation and policy makes him an asset to the team.
His experience with projects across the state provides him
with a strong knowledge of landscapes, ecosystems, processes
and issues. Steven has excellent staff and project management
skills which have enabled him to build a strong analysis and
assessments team within the company.

Michael Chilcott is a Director of Eco Logical Australia Pty
Ltd.
His experience covers the fields of natural resource planning
and management, protected area planning, environmental impact
assessment, strategic planning, environmental policy, community
relations and governmental relations.
Michael's tertiary training is in the fields of science, natural
resource management and economics. He has also completed a course
in business management at the Cranfield School of Management
in the UK. He has worked in Australia, Europe, Africa, Asia,
and the Pacific.
He has an acute understanding of the political, planning and
social environments with very strong relationships in the government
and private sectors, particularly in New South Wales, but also
more generally in Australia. He provides strategic advice to
the government and private sector clients on major projects,
and has a particular interest in integrating environment and
community interests in high performance interdisciplinary project
teams.
Michael is a founding member, and past NSW President, of the
Environment Institute of Australia and New Zealand, the professional
association for environmental practitioners

Robert has been with Eco Logical Australia since 2003 as a
senior manager. In this time, Robert has successfully applied
his broad knowledge and experience in the principles of environmental
management and planning for practical solutions within the public
and private sector. His experience comes from working as a practitioner
in the natural resources and biodiversity sector for over 18
years focusing on the application of spatial information. Over
this time he has developed superior knowledge and experience
in ecological assessment and environmental planning with innovative
implementation of new policies and technologies as they develop.
He has been instrumental in translating this experience in the
development and implementation of strategies, policies and guidelines
within NSW Government; particularly in the development of corporate
strategies to manage information within NPWS. Robert also has
extensive experience in liaison with all levels of Government
and the private sector, highly developed skills in project management,
financial management, staff supervision and training.
Projects that that have been successfully managed by Robert
range through ecological and constraint assessments for developments,
through to development of strategic management prioritisation
tools, identifying new technologies and techniques for use in
biodiversity assessment, creating cost effective solutions for
efficient field data capture, GIS analysis of digital data and
remote sensing, production of high quality map series, land
use mapping and natural heritage assessment.

Bruce is an ecologist with fourteen years post-graduate experience
and is Eco Logical Australia's Senior Ecologist and Manager
of the Ecology and Assessment team. Following the completion
of a Master of Science thesis examining patch dynamics at an
abandoned mine site, Bruce has been working as an environmental
consultant. For seven years he managed the environmental consulting
activities of Charles Sturt University, principally through
the Johnstone Centre.
Bruce has highly developed skills in the consulting world.
He is experienced in the design and execution of ecological
surveys, environmental impact assessment, the development of
management plans, literature reviews and all aspects of project
management.

Steve is the manager of the Hunter Regional Office. He joined
Eco Logical Australia as a founding member in December 2000.
Since this time, Steve has project managed a number of strategic
biodiversity, ecological assessment and planning projects. He
is currently living in the Hunter where he acts as a point of
contact for our clients and is working on a number of local
projects.
Steves experience covers strategic conservation planning,
bushland and reserve management, conservation planning and ecological
and bushfire assessment. Steve has formal tertiary qualifications
in Science that include reserve and wildlife management and
recreation management. Steve has worked in Australia, Canada
and the UK for state agencies and private companies.
Steve has completed a number and range of different projects,
including strategic biodiversity planning studies, biodiversity
strategies, plans of management for private and community lands,
as well as conducting project management and technical work
on various conservation assessment and research components for
a number of current projects. Steve has an interest in the management
and conservation of natural areas in the context of community
use and amenity.

Mark has more than fifteen years experience
as a professional environmental practitioner, in both federal
and state government and private industry. Mark is an ecologist
with a Masters in Environmental Law who specialises in environmental
assessment and policy for planning and natural resource management.
Since joining ELA, Mark has managed the successful completion
of Goulburn Mulwaree Biodiversity Strategy, Bungarribee Precinct
Conservation Strategy, within the Western Sydney Parklands and
strategic planning projects for private development clients.
With URS, Mark project managed the environmental approvals
for the new Defence Joint Operations Command Headquarters near
Bungendore (NSW), wrote plans of management for the Special
Area's (Drinking Water Supply) and Shanes Park in Western Sydney,
conducted numerous ecological assessments for threatened species,
completed environmental assessments for wind farm developments,
large integrated water savings projects, power stations, landfills,
commercial and residential developments. Mark also provided
strategic input into North Cooranbong, Tralee and North Wallahra
Peninsula Local Environmental Studies.
Mark has previously held senior planning positions with NSW
National Parks and Wildlife Service and with the Australian
Heritage Commission (now part of DEH) where he successfully
completed major projects such as the Kosciuszko National Park
Draft Plan of Management; Snowy River Environmental Flows; and
Snowy Hydro Corporatisation.
Mark's strong background in policy, planning and environmental
assessment is complemented by a pragmatic approach, strong project
management and technical skills in ecology and law.

Julian was involved with several large
conservation assessment projects during his nine years with
DEC. He planned and contributed to fauna and flora surveys,
provided strategic advice on woodflow data, and supported GIS
operations for the northern and southern regional assessments
(CRAs). As Project Officer with DEC in 2000 and 2001, Julian
undertook a statewide GIS assessment to determine the relative
restoration and conservation potential of ex-farmland within
National Park estate, with a view to prioritising areas for
ecological plantings for Greenhouse offsets. More recently,
Julian was responsible for coordinating a regional vegetation
mapping project in the Nandewar Bioregion (north west slopes
of NSW) for the Native Vegetation Mapping Program and the Western
Regional Assessment. This work culminated in recent production
of a distribution map of vegetation communities for the Nandewar
region.
Julian is a well organised and proficient operator with over
4 years experience in project management. He is an excellent
communicator and has completed a number of government reports
and scientific papers. He is has excellent local knowledge of
landscapes and vegetation types of the North Coast, North-West
Slopes and Northern Tablelands regions of NSW and is familiar
with the relevant biodiversity datasets in the region. He is
well known and respected in the fields of vegetation conservation
and management.

Nathan brings to the company:
*a sound knowledge of the flora and fauna of the greater Sydney
region;
*superior field survey skills;
*high level spatial, GIS and data analysis ability;
*a strong understanding of the landscapes of NSW, their function
and processes;
*strong technical and database related skills; and
*well developed skills and formal training in bushfire assessments

Nathan has worked on a number of regional
vegetation survey and mapping projects covering large areas
of the greater Sydney region; fauna survey projects; predictive
habitat modelling exercises; bushfire assessments and planning;
Biodiversity Banking; GIS mapping and spatial data manipulation
as well as habitat assessments and relating such research back
to environmental policy and planning.
Darren has worked in the natural resources sector for over
9 years. This time has been primarily spent with Local and State
Government organisations within Australia and overseas. During
this time he has developed extensive knowledge and experience
with natural resource management techniques and policies. He
has high level analytical skills and has used a number of GIS
and other tools to manage and assess spatial information.
He has an excellent knowledge of landscapes and processes throughout
NSW and has expertise in assessing and presenting land management
practices, including State of the Environment Reporting. He
has intimate knowledge of the processes behind Biobanking having
been heavily involved in the development of both the draft Biobanking
assessment methodology and draft Biobanking credit calculator.
He has worked on a number of regional and state projects including
the Cobar Peneplain Project, Western Comprehensive Regional
Assessment, State Conservation Monitoring Project, NSW Ecosystems
Database Project and the Western Sydney Vegetation Mapping Project.
Darren's understanding of policy and process combined with
his knowledge of natural resource management issues and his
experience in high level technical analysis provides him with
a unique blend of skills that can be applied to a diverse range
of projects.
