Carbon Sequestration and Regenesis

Blacktown City Council & NSW Department of Lands

We successfully worked with urban and rural local councils and the NSW Department of Lands in mapping out carbon opportunities within the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement Scheme (NGAS).

We were engaged by Blacktown City Council to prepare a Business Plan for Regenesis.

Regenesis is an innovative business concept that will enable sister cities Blacktown City Council and Liverpool City Shire Council to work toward environmentally sustainable outcomes, through:

  • Carbon sequestration
  • Revegetation
  • Biodiversity enhancement
  • Natural resource management
  • Community and business engagement.

We also provided advice to the NSW Department of Lands regarding the feasibility, risks and approach to issuing Forestry (Carbon Sequestration) Rights under the NSW Crown Lands Act 1989.

We are experienced in assessing and advising on landscape/carbon outcomes under Kyoto rules sets and our project experience includes designing and delivering landscape scale solutions to a range of environmental and land management issues. This has extended to providing advice on the interaction between natural resource values and regeneration/revegetation with a view to long term income streams and cost reductions.
