Targeted Threatened Species Surveys and Vegetation Mapping

Department of Defence

We were engaged by the Department of Defence to conduct vegetation mapping and targeted flora and fauna surveys at three Department of Defence sites in the Darwin region.

This included desktop and on-ground surveys of Royal Australian Air Force Darwin, Defence Establishment Berrimah and Shoal Bay Receiving Station to determine the presence or absence of threatened and migratory species or their habitats.

Vegetation was mapped from aerial photography and extensively ground truthed to map the location and general condition of vegetation communities and describe the key flora species in each stratum.

We also provided recommendations for ongoing management of fire and weeds.
