Assessment of Regionally Significant Riparian Corridors across the Sydney Metropolitan catchment

Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority

We were engaged by Sydney Metropolitan Catchment Management Authority assess Regionally Significant Riparian Corridors across the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment.

We used and adapted existing datasets to assess the significance of riparian corridors (50 m buffer of streams and foreshore areas). An assessment of high conservation value vegetation was undertaken within 150 m of these corridors to show relevant context.

Maps of each of the eight operational areas in the Sydney Metropolitan Catchment were produced to illustrate the distribution of Regionally Significant Riparian Corridor priority classes.

A report was prepared to provide recommendations for management of each priority class as well as the planning application of the assessment.

Two pilot sites were chosen to demonstrate the application of the riparian corridor assessment: a greenfield site and a redevelopment site.
