Strategic Assessment for Molonglo Valley

We were engaged to prepare the Strategic Impact Assessment Report for development in the Molonglo Valley in the ACT.

The Strategic Impact Assessment Report was prepared under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).

Strategic assessments provide a mechanism to move away from site-by-site impact assessment and examine proposed developments at a landscape scale in relation to the requirements of the EPBC Act. The Molonglo Valley strategic assessment is one of the first of its kind in Australia relating to urban development.

Throughout the project, we have worked closely with the ACT Planning and Land Authority and other government agencies to develop an assessment report that meets the requirements of the EPBC Act and the Commonwealth Government.

A detailed understanding of the priorities for the ACT Planning and Land Authority, including the planning issues for Molonglo and North Weston, has facilitated outcomes for a range of stakeholders.
